    Harley Street Institute definitions

Authoritative definitions of the educational credits, clinical frameworks, publications and programme names developed or used by Harley Street Institute.

    AiCE Point

HSI’s unit for recording assessed learning in aesthetic medicine education.

An AiCE Point is Harley Street Institute’s educational credit for assessed learning in aesthetic medicine. One AiCE Point represents approximately one hour of CPD/CME-equivalent learning activity. AiCE Points are an HSI record of learning and do not, by themselves, constitute credits awarded by an external regulator or professional body.

    Aesthetic Intelligence

HSI’s name for clinically reasoned aesthetic education and its academic journal.

Aesthetic Intelligence is Harley Street Institute’s term for combining anatomy, evidence, patient assessment, judgement and reflective practice in aesthetic medicine. It is also the title of HSI’s online academic journal. Where the abbreviation AI appears as “AI (Aesthetic Intelligence)”, it refers to this HSI concept rather than artificial intelligence alone.

    HSI Mini Scale

A proposed four-domain examination framework for assessing facial ageing.

The HSI Mini Scale is a proposed facial-assessment framework that examines four domains in a fixed order: skin quality, muscle and movement, volume and support, and laxity and descent. Each domain is scored from 0 to 3 and reported as a phenotype, such as S2–M3–V0–D1, rather than reduced to one total. It is an educational framework and has not yet been validated as a clinical outcome instrument.

HSI’s longitudinal assessment environment for clinical reasoning.

Scholarium is Harley Street Institute’s assessment environment for testing clinical reasoning over time. Its open-exam format compares the learner’s interpretation with structured or algorithmic output and rewards demonstrated recovery and improved reasoning after an incorrect answer, not only first-attempt performance.

    Aesthetic Talk

HSI’s educational book and learning series on judgement in aesthetic practice.

Aesthetic Talk is Harley Street Institute’s educational book and on-site learning series. It addresses clinical judgement, patient psychology, skin science, anatomy and ethical practice through connected chapters. Completing its associated learning and assessment carries 10 AiCE Points.
