A focused practical course in trapezius Botox — the so-called "Barbie neck" treatment for a longer, slimmer shoulder line — and in injection of myofascial trigger points for chronic muscular pain.
For registered medical professionals who want to add one of the fastest-growing aesthetic indications and a clinically meaningful pain treatment to their menu, taught with proper anatomy, dose logic and one supervised live treatment.
The trapezius has had two cultural moments in recent years. Aesthetically, the descending fibres of the upper trapezius are now treated to elongate the perceived neck line and produce the so-called "Barbie neck" look that has dominated social media. Clinically, the same upper trapezius is one of the most common sites of chronic myofascial pain and tension-type headache contribution.
Botulinum toxin addresses both. Carefully placed injections into the descending fibres can reduce resting bulk and create a visibly longer neck contour, while targeted trigger-point injection along the upper trapezius and adjacent shoulder girdle muscles can deliver durable pain relief in patients who have plateaued with physiotherapy and analgesia.
This short practical course teaches both indications. The online theory module covers the surface and palpable anatomy, the relationship to the brachial plexus, the dose logic for aesthetic versus pain indications, and the patient selection criteria for each. The in-clinic practical session is dedicated to one supervised live treatment per delegate, with consultant-led palpation coaching at the chair.
This is one of the highest-conversion treatments in modern aesthetic clinics because it produces a visible body contour result that patients can photograph and share. It is also one of the most clinically rewarding because trigger-point patients often report dramatic relief.
Aesthetic trapezius Botox targets the bulky descending fibres that fan from the occiput and ligamentum nuchae down to the lateral clavicle and acromion. Treating these fibres reduces resting tone over 6–8 weeks, producing a visibly longer neck and a more sloped shoulder contour. We teach the dose distribution that creates the look without producing functional shoulder weakness.
A trigger point is a hyper-irritable spot in a taut band of skeletal muscle that produces predictable referred pain on compression. We teach palpation-based identification, the twitch response, and the difference between trigger-point Botox dosing (small volumes into multiple discrete points) and aesthetic dosing (a structured grid across the muscle bulk).
The brachial plexus runs deep and lateral to the descending trapezius, and the apex of the lung sits beneath the supraclavicular fossa. We teach a deliberately superficial-to-mid-belly injection plane that keeps you away from both, and the landmarks that anchor the injection grid medially and laterally.
Aesthetic trapezius Botox is a contour treatment, not a fat-removal treatment. Patients with significant subcutaneous fat or a short skeletal neck will have a more modest visible response. The consent conversation we teach makes this clear before treatment, which is the single biggest predictor of patient satisfaction at review.
This is a short blended course: complete the online theory at your own pace, then attend the in-clinic practical at our Harley Street facility. The practical portion runs approximately one to two hours per candidate, and the total day length is therefore typically two to three hours depending on group size.
Every delegate performs one full supervised treatment on a live model under one-to-one consultant supervision. We deliberately keep numbers small so that nobody observes more than they inject.
Course duration on the day naturally varies based on the number of delegates booked, model availability, and each candidate's pre-existing injecting experience — beginners benefit from longer one-to-one coaching, while experienced injectors progress more quickly.
Practical training is restricted to registered healthcare professionals. Proof of registration (GMC, GDC, NMC, GPhC or equivalent) is required at booking.
