Author Guidelines
The HSI Journal of Aesthetic Medicine & AI welcomes submissions from clinicians, researchers and educators worldwide. Submissions must adhere to the following guidelines.
1. Scope and Eligibility
The journal publishes original scholarship in aesthetic medicine, artificial intelligence in clinical practice, postgraduate medical education and patient safety. Submissions must be original, not under consideration elsewhere, and authored by qualified clinicians or researchers.
2. Article Types
- Original Research — up to 4,000 words.
- Review Article — up to 6,000 words.
- Case Report — up to 1,500 words.
- Commentary — up to 1,200 words.
- Editorial — up to 1,000 words (invited).
3. Submission Format
Manuscripts should be submitted as Word (.docx) or PDF documents, 12-point font, double-spaced, with line numbering. A structured abstract of no more than 250 words must precede the main text and follow the headings: Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion.
4. Reference Style
References must follow the Vancouver style: numbered consecutively in the order in which they first appear in the text and listed numerically in the reference list. Journal titles should be abbreviated according to the National Library of Medicine.
5. Figures and Tables
Figures should be submitted as high-resolution (≥ 300 dpi) TIFF, PNG or JPG files. Each figure and table must be numbered, cited in the text, and accompanied by a clear, self-contained legend. Authors are responsible for obtaining permissions for any reproduced material.
6. AI Disclosure Policy
Authors who have used AI tools in the preparation of their manuscript must declare this in the Methods or Acknowledgements section. The named human author(s) retain full responsibility for the accuracy, integrity and editorial content of all published work.
7. Peer Review Process
All submissions undergo single-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers with relevant subject expertise. Editorial decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief in consultation with Associate Editors. The typical first-decision turnaround is six weeks.
8. Ethics Statement
Studies involving human participants must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki and have appropriate ethical approval. Informed consent must be obtained for the publication of identifiable patient information, including clinical photographs. Conflicts of interest must be declared in full.
9. Copyright and Licensing
Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence (CC BY 4.0). Authors retain copyright and grant the journal a non-exclusive licence to publish.
